And so the season officially begins

Softball and Tball are here! We have opening ceremonies for softball this morning, and then have to wait around for about an hour after it is done before our game starts. Then, we'll head home, maybe get one or two small chores done. Later it will be the first Tball game. Somewhere in the course of this day I will still need to get the grocery shopping done and a paper started!

Schoolwork and memories

I am so ready for this semester to be over. I love education, and used to say I would go to college for the rest of my life if I could afford it. I think my dream has changed. I am currently taking 2 classes (6 credit hours) for training in my profession. These Early Childhood classes are not intellectually difficult. There is definately a struggle in my time management habits that keep me from doing the work ahead of time.

I guess that makes me a procrastinator. Wait, was that a surprise? I already knew that...I think I finally realized that in my junior year of high school. I was taking Honors Chemistry with a very loony science 'professor'. We had to do a project on a chemical compound (that we chose). I can't remember what anyone else did..but I chose acne cream. Why??? I don't know, because I did not have an acne problem. I guess it sounded good. I waited until the night before, and I was supposed to be spending the night with a friend. Oh...we gorged ourselves on coffee from 7-11 and I can remember adding something like 12 packets of sugar to each cup. We(I) was up all night doing a really crappy job of making the poster and writing the paper. These were of course the days before the latest energy drinks. We had Jolt, but who could drink that nastyness? I think I presented my project the next day, and I vaguely recall getting a very low grade on it.

You would think I would learn from my past mistakes. Especially in these online classes, where we are able to work ahead if we desire. My problem is, so far, I have waited until the last moment for all my work~ and I am getting pretty good grades! I am certainly not asking to fail, but I do need to look within and make some changes to my study routines. I have until May 7th to finish all work. THen I am free for the summer!

That Moonrise Picture

I still can't get it to load in the other post...I don't know why. It was published in Sunday's paper...and I think it looked awesome. I cut it out and put it on my bulletin board.

Moonrise

I snapped a photo last month that is going to be used in the local section of our regional newspaper. I'm excited! There is no financial compensation...just the recognition of a tagline...but cool to say I'm a published photographer :)

There is a technical glitch in getting it uploaded right now...I'll post it here when I can!

Tax deadline day

was yesterday! I work with kids, and love it...but another love of mine is numbers. They just make sense. I am the person that has to make sure her bank account is not off by even a penny. I HAVE to find out why, if there is a difference! Fortunately, the bank account is right on at the moment. But this year was my worst year so far for slackness on doing my taxes. I'm usually done and filed before the end of the first week in February. Not this year! It was late March for me this year. I have been pretty burdened with other obligations, and I didn't want to make careless mistakes from being too tired, so it was put off for quite a while. That was not a good feeling. I have resolved to keep closer track of paperwork throughout the year so that it is not so overwhelming to get done next time around! (plus, one of my businesses ended this past year, and won't be on 2008 forms, and that saves so much work!)
Now if only my schoolwork would get done before the end of the semester:)

Fresh flowerbeds

Saturday turned out beautiful! (We were forecasted to have lots of showers.) I took advantage of a few moments that were not otherwise filled, and refreshed the front flowerbeds. I even got some help from Mr. Snippity in expanding a small section around the corner from this (under the waterhose connection). My mom was supposed to come out last week and help get it done, but she kept having conflicts. I am glad I got the opportunity to work it myself. I rearranged a few minor things...and it is pleasing to my eyes!

Dishcloths

Isn't it kinda sad that I got excited about buying new dishcloths? I have been using some really rough, raggedy ones for so long now. I splurged :) and got the ones with the nylon scrubbers on the back.

DDR!!

That stands for Dance Dance Revolution. You should have seen my friend and I shakin' our things on the DDR game at the YMCA tonight! Us two ladies that have never tried it before...it was funny. We were kind of tripping all over own feet and such. What a fun thing to remember when we are older...like 100! Then I got to play with the oldest daughter. She was not as impressed with me as I was with myself. Does that make sense?

On other notes, I had a "professional development" meeting with the agency that is funding my college classes. It was interesting. She took a picture of me that will be put in the slideshow for the upcoming appreciation dinner. I really hate hate hate hate seeing pictures of myself. Now I am not looking forward as much to the dinner. :( Maybe that will be good incentive to watch the portions!

Mondays...

are hard! Especially when you've been off schedule for the weekend. I have gotta find my groove again!!!

He almost did it again!

Beat me in Scrabble! He played one word for about 79 points or such. It came out that I beat him by 2 points in the end. (I think he's been secretly practicing!)

Rainy Day Races

Mr. Snippity ran a beach race yesterday. It was his first such attempt since high school (and he is thirty-something, just like his wife). He looked pretty ragged towards the end...but at least it was not just sweat, as it rained nearly the whole time. The photo is not the racer, just a shot of how we spent our time waiting. Later the snippets and I tried to shop, but gave up quickly. We scurried home like drowned rats, then stayed in! Dinner was enjoyed with friends~ in between a good game of Scrabble. Mr. Snippity beat me for the first time ever.

This blog

Hello all! I am going to try out this blogging thing again, after a few tries a long time ago. I'll be blogging about whatever piques my interest from day to day:) Mostly, this will be my family, since they are my day-to day :)

  • It takes just a moment to change your attitude. And, in that quick moment, you can change your entire day!
